Nutrition Week Celebrations
  • Significance of Nutrition week and the importance of Nutrition in the early stage of life.
  • National Nutrition week was inaugurated on 1st September with the first year students & III year students on this occasion Dr.P.Jyothi Kumari spoke on significance of Nutrition week – saying that its being observed on 1st September, 1975by American Dietetic Association. NNW is celebrated to enhance awareness on the importance of Nutrition & Nourishment at the early stage.
  • Childhood required increased nutrients due to phenomenal growth of physical and brain development. “You are what you eat” is the ---- saying what is the importance of nutrition. Nutritional habits are established at childhood will result in the health status of adult age. Parent has a significant role in establishing good food habits by reminding the role of nutritionist to bring change in society by their small ways.
  • 4th September 2021 - Prof.P.Jyothi Kuamri, Mrs.B.Radha and Mrs.G.N.S.S.Navya and the students of I & III MBN & ZNC Participated In the webinar organized by the department of Home Science in association with ICAR, IIOPR, Pedavegi of Millets in Indian diets. Dr.Venkateswarlu Ronda, Scientist in Biochemistry, ICAR – Indian Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad. Which was enriching and enlighting.
  • 7th September 2021 - Staff and Students of Department of UG Nutrition & Dietetics on the occasion of National Nutrition week on 7th September, 2021 organized a webinar on “Feeding smart right from start – Role of Parent” by Mrs.Sri Lakshmi Sravani Devarakonda, A Doctoral Candidate from Cornell University, USA. An alumnae of our college. 200 students participated and benefitted from the talk.
  • 7th September 2021 - Department of UG Nutrition and Dietetics organized a Webinar on Career Guidance – Higher Education Opportunities in Overseas by Mrs.Sri Lakshmi Sravani Devarakonda from Cornell University, USA. Mrs.Sravani is our proud Alumnae of our college and the Department in particular. She being doctoral candidate at Cornell University, She took keen interest in guiding her fellow students. She has given the information regarding GRE, TOFEL scores, Universities offering Nutrition and Dietetics, Scholarships available to support Financially and thereof the chances of getting into credited internships which will be helpful for Doctoral course admissions at renowned Universities. Nearly 200 students and 15 staff benefited from this webinar.
  • 26th October 2021 - Department of Applied Sciences organized 69th Union Inauguration. The procession was lead by the Head of the College our Principal Dr.Sr.Marietta D’Mello followed by Vice Principal and PG Directress Dr.Sr.Showrilu, Chief Guest Dr.K.V.Padmavathi, Former HOD of Home Science and All the union bearers. Chief Guest of the programme addressed the students emphasizing their responsibility and she also stressed on balancing life and how one should move forward with the support of others. Our Principal Dr.Sr.Marietta D’Mello enlightened the students about the life of our founders as the day was also founders day. Message was given by Dr.Sr.Marietta Pudota, Superior & Correspondent congratulated the union bearers and emphasized on characteristics of leaders which helps in keeping the values of the college. The chief guest Dr.K.V.Padmavathi felicitated during the programme.
  • 19th November 2021 - A workshop on “Mushroom Cultivation” was organized by the department of Applied Bio-Sciences. Mr.Thota Jaichand, Thanusri Mushrooms Pvt., Ltd., Vijayawada was the resource person. This was organized under the guidance of Dr.Sr.Marietta D’Mello, Principal, Dr.Sr.Showrilu, Vice Principal, Dr.R.Madhavi IIC co-ordinator. He spoke at length on cultivation of different types of mushrooms at different places. He described the methodology of cultivation and a practical demo was also given. Nearly 150 students of final and second year MBC, MBN and MBCS attended the workshop. He said that with least investment more profit can be obtained and even employment can be provided to unemployed. A successful entrepreneur has startups at different places also visits number of units at other places India and Abroad and gives his valuable suggestions. Dr. A Padmavathi and Dr. P. Jyothi Kumari were the conveners for the workshop.
  • 26th January 2022 - On the eve of 73rd Republic Day, Department of Applied Bio-Sciences celebrated Republic Day through online mode. All the students have participated with zeal and enthusiasm. Students participated actively in various competitions such as patriotic dance, song, elocution and role play conducted through online mode. They were congratulated for their active participation.
  • 5th February 2022 - Webinar:Avenues for New beginners in Applied Sciences - Department of Applied Bio-Sciences organized a webinar on “Avenues for New beginners in Applied Sciences” on 5th February, 2022 at 10 am. Mrs.K.Bhavana, Director, Vizag Bio Energy Fuel Pvt., Ltd., Vizag was the resource person. She enlightened the students about the scope of applied sciences and explained the biogas production process of her own biogas plant which was at Vizag, They are supplying gas produced at the plant to Indian Gas. She is our proud alumnae. Staff of Applied Sciences Congratulated her.
