Objective


The motto of NSS is “NOT ME , BUT YOU”
The main objective is to develop the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service.

  • NSS was introduced in our college in the year 1975.
  • It was developed further in the year 1984.
  • NSS with 5 units was established in the year 1988.

The NSS volunteers work on issues of social relevance which includes
Literacy and education :
  • Adult education programme for rural and urban poor.
  • Each one teach one for adopted village children and students of juvenile home.
  • Regular check on academic performance of adopted village children.
Health, family welfare and nutrition:
  • Conducting medical camps for students of home college, in adopted villages and the villages where special camps organized.
  • Family welfare and nutrition related programmes organized during special camp.
  • Conducting awareness rallies related to health. Ex: AIDS rally on 1 st December .
Environment Conservation:
  • Plantation programmes under the names Vana mahosthavam, Vanam – manam etc.
  • Awareness on water conservation , maintaining sunken pits, rain water harvesting etc.
  • Awareness programmes on controlling measures for different types of pollutions.
Social service programmes :
  • Conducting blood donation camps.
  • Extending helping hand to the people during pushkaram programme
  • Conducting awareness programmes on current issues Ex: Digital transaction.
Programmes for Empowerment of Women :
  • Training programmes for DWACRA women on home needs preparation.
Programmes on Protection for Girl Child :
  • Kishorivikasam programme for girls in different schools and Junior college of age 11 to 18years .
