PG - Physics

History

M.Sc Physics course was started during the year 2003. The staff were well equipped to handle the subject effectively. This course is a self finance course which is affiliated to Andhra University. We had Electronics lab & Modern Physics lab with good equipment to enable the students to carry out the practicals. From 2003 Mrs.P.Subbalakshmi has taken the charge as the head of department of P.G Physics till 2006 .From 2006 Dr.A.Nirmala Jyothsna has taken the charge as the head of department of P.G.Physics. .Dr. P.Subbalakshmi had awarded as AP State best teacher and .Dr. A.Nirmala Jyothsna has awarded district best teacher award twice during the academic year (2013-14, 2014-15) by CCE Hyderabad. Till 2015 it was affiliated to Andhra university .From the year 2016 M.Sc. Physics course was affiliated to Adikavi Nannaya University. Every year more than 25 students were joining in M.Sc. Physics course. Every year in this course students were acquiring 100% result and however more than 95% result. “SPACE”club activities are conducted to improve the communication skills among students and to inculcate the innovative thinking in them by taking up various activities like seminars, paper presentations, projects, quiz programmes, group discussions, debates, field trips etc. More than 50 papers were published by M.Sc physics students. More than 25 papers were published by P.G staff members. Two national seminars were organised by department of P.G physics.

Department of P.G physics had conducted exhibition related to the physics and various school children have visited this exhibition .Students have visited to NRSC and NFC as a field trip. The department in collaboration with MICROLINK Information Technolgies, Vijayawada took initiative to train the students in PCB Designing, Embedded Systems through which students developed skills to do many live projects. In January 2019, our college has become the Network institute of outreach program of IIRS, ISRO, Dehradun & the department took incharge of training the students in various online certificate courses offered by ISRO under the coordination of Dr. A. Nirmala Jyothsna, Head of the Department of Physics & Electronics. The department has started Atmospheric Physics Research lab & also GIS lab during 2019 under RUSA 2.0.

OBJECTIVES

  • To develop strong student competencies in Physics and its applications in a technology-rich, interactive environment.
  • To develop strong student skills in research, analysis and interpretation of complex information.
  • To prepare the students to successfully compete for employment in Electronics, Manufacturing and Teaching and to offer a wide range of experience in research methods, data analysis to meet the industrial needs.
  • To train students in team work and in lifelong learning for continuous professional development.

GOAL

The aim of the programme is to train postgraduates with advanced knowledge and higher order critical, analytical, problem solving and research skills; ability to think rigorously and independently to meet higher level expectations of academia and research with sufficient transferrable skills.
