on 8th Nov. 2017 – 12th Nov. 2017 KISHORE VIKASAM is a programme arranged by the State Government through Women and Child Welfare Department to take up awareness to the Adolescent girls of 12-18 years of age group on different teenage problems.
Training to the PGTs (Peer Group Trainers): On 8th Nov. 2017 a training programme was given to 84 student volunteers from II BZC, ZNC, MBN and Home Science. They have registered by Women and Child Welfare Department.
Inauguration of the Kishore Vikas Programme conducted on 8th Nov. 2017 at 9.30AM, Sri.Sharif, JC was the Chief Guest. He motivated the PGTs to send the message to the adolescent girls in a positive way. Mrs.S.Vidyavathi, PD-DW &CDA WAS THE Guest of Honour addressed the PGTs and shared her experiences with adolescent girls. Dr.Surya Chakra Veni, Dt. Child Protection Officer encouraged the PGTs, Aims and Objectives and gave the instructions about the programme schedule. Sri .Pydeswara Rao, Eluru DSP also gave the assurance for smooth running of this programme. Mrs. Jaya LAKSHMI, CDPO, Eluru, Urban gave encouraging words to the PGTs. Dr.Sr.Mercy, Principal wished and congratulated the PGTs and the Department of Zoology.
In the morning Session, the PGTs were trained on different adolescent related problems like Child marriages, Child marriage Act, Marriage registrations and its Act, Sexual Abuse and its Act, Peer Pressure, Gender Awareness, Equality, Trafficking, Adolescent changes, Complete Balanced diet, Anaemia, Reproductive Hygiene, Personal Hygiene, Inter personal Relationships, Adolescent girls-Beauty consciousness, Love and Attraction-Difference etc.
In the Afternoon session, all the PGTs divided into 4 groups of 21 members, 4 faculty from Zoology Department as In charges. Each group actively involved in group activity, interactive activity on the above topics. They also have learned some refresh activities. Group leaders and some active PGTs shared their experiences and views regarding this programme.
On 9th & 10th Nov. 2017, all the 4 groups of PGTS along with laision officers visited AP Social Welfare Gurukul Pathasala/College, Vatlur
On 11th & 12th Nov. 2017, all the 4 groups of PGTS along with liaison officers Dr.R.Indira, Dr.K.S.V.K.S.Madhavi Rani, Mrs.N.Lakshmi Prasanna,Mrs.G.Suneetha, from Department of Zoology,St.Theresa’s Degree College,Eluru visited 4 Social Welfare Hostels at Ameena Pet.
All the 4 groups equally divided the girls and conducted the sessions separately by liaison officers. interactive activities carried out with 10 girls per each PGT.

On 8th march,2018,Ms. P.Lavanya,II B.Sc.BZC & Ms.E.Akhila,II B.Sc received District level Best PGTs Award- from the District Collector on the eve of International Women’s Day Celebrations for their voluntary service in the Kishore Vikas Programme.

On 10th and 11th December 2017 NSS volunteers divided into groups each has 10 members, from college went to the allotted villages by Govt. of AP such as Ponangi (kothuru, Kapu peta, kotha ponangi, sayibula peta, sagarla peta) ,Gavaravaram( Sundarayyacolony, Vidyanagar, Sreeramnagar, Dondapadu, Dattasramam road), Sanivarapupet and Satram padu for the purpose of ODF survey. We conducted survey on ODF and we visited 802 houses ,among them703 house holds have toilets, in 66 houses the toilets are under construction, 5 house holds were applied for toilets, 28 house holds do not have toilets. During the survey, the Volunteers went to each of the houses which are mentioned in the ODF data provided by the Govt. of AP. and get the information required. Out of 802 houses only 468 houses are uploaded in the given website remaining 334 houses information is not able to upload due to technical error.
Open defecation free Awareness rally and awareness program conducted by St. Theresa autonomous college for women, Eluru on 13-12-2017 at St. Theresa inter campus to create awareness on open defecation free Andhra Pradesh. This program also warn that the open defecation is hazardous to country's dignity. 2000 students from different colleges of Eluru gathered at St Theresa's inter campus to participate in rally. Govt. officials of different departments were attended the program. Then the district collector, Sri. Bhaskar katamaneni garu IAS- chief guest of the program and vice chancellor of Adikavi nannaya university, Rajamahendravaram, Sri. Murru Mutyala Naidu garu -guest of honour came to the venue, the program got started by Vandemataram song sung by the students of the St. Theresa college. Then the university coordinator of NSS Sri.N.Kiran Chandra garu introduced the dignitaries on the dais to the gathering. The district collector Sri. Bhaskar katamaneni garu IAS gave his simple and serene speech on ODF and also the disadvantages created by Open defecation in past. His main view of speech is to represent the motto to make INDIA free of open defecation. Then the MLC of Eluru Sri.Ramu suryarao garu gave his small talk and also said that West Godavari district is 100 % free of open defecation and this is because of work done by Sri. Bhaskar katamaneni garu IAS. Then the vice chancellor of ANUR Sri. Murru Mutyala naidu garu gave a valuable speech on ODF and also made students to know about their responsibility against open defecation as it is hazardous to people and Environment. Then the rally was started from St. Theresa inter campus and reached fire station centre with ODF crew and formed a circle, there vice chancellor of ANUR gave speech for making students and public aware of open defecation and then all students dispersed to the allotted villages for ODF survey , awareness rally and distributed pamphlets to make villagers be aware of open defecation effects and educate them about open defecation free benefits.
St. Theresa's college has taken up a special program towards Child Labour Eradication collaborating with the district government in the National Child Labour Program ( NCLP ). The college runs three schools in three adopted slums of Eluru-Namely
About 100 children of the tribal nomadic people are being educated in three schools. Since 2004 it is indeed a ray of hope to the society.
Following The call of the honourable Prime Minister and the government , Theresa's has evolved Theresian Swatch Bharat Abhiyan ( TSBA ) through which staff and students reach out to the local community to make cleanliness a way of life, joining hands with Eluru Municipal Corporation various activities are taken up regularly in all the wards of the muncipality. Some habitations are adopted to develop it as model of clean and green habitations
