On 21st June,2024, International Yoga Day is observed by the students of the College. The Hon’ble Principal Dr. Sr. Mercy wished and addressed the students on the Special Day. She said that Yoga is a powerful toll that unites the self, mind, and soul, and considered India’s gift to the world. The principles of yoga, such as compassion, non-violence, and respect for all beings, inspire ethical behavior and social harmony was explained by Dr. Ch. V. Mahalakshmi Head, Department of Hindi and Telugu. The theme for Yoga Day 2024 is Yoga for self and society. The whole college participated in Yoga Celebrations.
From July 1st to 3rd, 2024, St. Theresa Women's Autonomous College hosted an orientation program for first-year students. Dr. Sr. Mercy, the Principal, emphasized the college's dedication to women's education since 1953 and called for a collaborative effort from all stakeholders for the students' success. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Nirmala Jyotsna and included various sessions such as the history of the college by Dr. Esther Kalyani, an introduction to alumni achievements by Dr. CA Jyotirmayi, and an overview of college facilities by Dr. Rama. P. Ratna Mary explained the Ward Tutor system, while on the second day, Dr. Rajani taught moral values, Sister Sushila discussed the autonomy system, and Dr. Padmaja detailed scholarship opportunities. Dr. Jyoti Kumari introduced college committees and clubs, Major Dr. PM Celine Rose spoke on NCC and sports, and Dr. K Srilatha explained NSS activities. The program concluded with Dr. Sr. Mercy briefing the students on the New Education Policy and Single Major System. The event, coordinated by Dr. Ch. V Mahalakshmi with support from Telugu faculty members Aruna Jhansirani and Dr. K Aruna, ended with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Sister Maria Cristia and the national anthem.
On July 12th, 2024, St. Theresa's College for Women (A) successfully organized a free medical camp focused on raising awareness about heart and eye health issues. This collaborative effort brought together the Physical Education Department and the Departments of Hindi and Telugu, demonstrating a unified commitment to community health and well-being. The camp featured the expertise of two distinguished medical professionals: Dr. P. Rithesh, a renowned Cardiologist, and Dr. P. Tejaswi, an esteemed Ophthalmologist from Vijaya Multispecialty Hospital, Eluru. Their voluntary participation was instrumental in providing valuable insights and guidance to all attendees. Dr. Rithesh addressed various heart-related issues, offering preventive measures and management strategies for cardiovascular health. Concurrently, Dr. Tejaswi provided essential eye care advice, highlighting the importance of regular eye exams and discussing common eye conditions and their treatments. The collaborative efforts of the Physical Education Department and the Departments of Hindi and Telugu ensured the event's success, fostering a greater awareness of crucial health issues among participants.
During the workshop on 21st Century Entrepreneurs, Ch. V. Mahalakshmi, Head of the Department of Hindi and Telugu, delivered a captivating presentation on the success stories of contemporary women entrepreneurs. Her detailed PowerPoint highlighted the challenges these women faced and the innovative strategies they used to overcome them. The presentation left a lasting impact on the students, inspiring and motivating them. Through interactive discussions, Ms. Mahalakshmi engaged the students, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Her insightful analysis shed light on the evolving landscape of entrepreneurship and the growing influence of women in the industry. On August 29th, 2024, St. Theresa's College for Women (A) proudly celebrated Telugu Bhasha Dinothsavam, an event dedicated to the rich and vibrant Telugu language. The celebration was meticulously organized by the Department of Telugu and Hindi, aiming to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Telugu folk songs, an integral part of the Telugu-speaking community's daily life. The event began with an inspiring welcome address by Dr. Ch. V. Mahalakshmi, Head of the Department of Telugu and Hindi, who emphasized the importance of celebrating and sustaining our linguistic roots. The audience was treated to a series of captivating performances by students from III BA Special Telugu. Their dances, set to traditional Telugu folk songs, vividly depicted the everyday lives, challenges, and joys of the Telugu-speaking community. These performances were not only entertaining but also served as a powerful reminder of the beauty and diversity of Telugu folk music. Dr. Sr. Mercy, the Principal, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Telugu Bhasha Dinothsavam and the crucial role of language in preserving cultural identity. She praised the efforts of the students and faculty for their dedication to celebrating this important day. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Y. Aruna Jhansi Rani, a Lecturer in Telugu, who acknowledged the contributions of everyone involved in making the event a grand success.
In conjunction with Telugu Bhasha Dinothsavam, the Department of Telugu and Hindi held a Knowledge Extension Programme on the same day. Students performed traditional Telugu folk songs and dances, celebrating the diversity and essence of Telugu folk music. Interactive sessions and discussions deepened the participants' appreciation for the cultural heritage, fostering a sense of pride and admiration for the Telugu language.

A book of research essays collected and edited by Dr. Mahalakshmi, Associate Professor in Hindi, in different languages on the topic "Ramayana... Different Perspectives" was unveiled. On the occasion, she said that each character in Ramayana is a symbol of a different personality, while Rama's personality shows how an ideal man should be, a son, husband, father, and Ravana's story shows how a human being should not be. A soul friend in Sugriva, a devotee in Hanuma, a counselor in Vibhishana, like this every character a history has a peculiarity.
A Guest Lecture was conducted by the Department of Hindi and Telugu, on the eve of Hindi Day Celebrations on 14 th September,2024. Dr. Mrs. Sumithra Kothapalle was the Guest Speaker. Dr. Sumitra Kothapalli, an esteemed Assistant Professor in Hindi from Sir CRR College, Eluru, graced the Hindi Day celebrations at St. Theresa’s College for Women (A) with her insightful speech on the role of Hindi literature in personality development. In her address, Dr. Kothapalli emphasized that literature serves as a fundamental cornerstone for human development. She articulated that every form of literature, be it stories, poems, or novels, contributes significantly to the growth and development of human personality. Highlighting the multifaceted benefits of literature, she referenced the short story “Mukti Dhan” by the renowned Hindi writer Premchand, illustrating how its themes encompass business orientation, humanitarian values, religious harmony, and personality development. Dr. Kothapalli also underscored the timeless relevance of poems by 13th-century poet Kabir Das, noting that both ancient and modern poets have endeavored to instill essential human values through their works. Dr. Kothapalli called upon the youth to embrace the values embedded in literature and apply them practically to contribute to the creation of a new, value-driven society. She urged the young audience to become active participants in societal development by internalizing and practicing the virtues conveyed through literary works. The event was a resounding success, leaving the attendees inspired to explore and integrate the profound lessons of Hindi literature into their personal and social lives.
Department of Hindi & Telugu in collaboration Sri Satya Sai Seva Organizations, conducted an Essay Writing Competition on 27th, September 2024 on the Topic “ The Things that Value Most” and in Telugu “ Naaku Praana Pradamaina Vasthuvulu leka Vishayamulu.” Nearly 50 Students Participated in it.
