Talk the book on Telugu Velugu Satakam

Mrs. K. Aruna, Assistant professor gave a book review on “ Telugu Velugu Satakam “ Written by Mr. Chandram as a part of “ Talk the book “ Series organized by APSCHE to inculcate the greatness of reading skills in Telugu language in present generation the session was telecasted live on You Tube.

Mrs.Ume Salma., HOD, Dept of Telugu and Hindi - Retirement Function

On 31st October Mrs.Ume Salma., HOD, Dept of Telugu and Hindi retired from her services. On 9th November Management , Staff and Students celebrated Mrs. Ume Salma’s Superannuation function. Members of the Management and various Heads of the departments, faculty members, Various Committees, Support Staff and Student representatives felicitated Mrs. Ume Salma and wished her a Happy retired life.

SAMEIKHYA BHARATHI” Kavi Sammelanam

On 26th Nov Dr. Mrs. S.K.L Suneetha received a certificate of Publication named “KAVANA GODAVARI” under the ISBN 978-93-90781-0 and grateful appreciation of her hard work and dedicated effort in achieving this Record 1111 POEMS by 1111 POETS, organized by ESN PUBLICATIONS. She also participated in “SAMEIKHYA BHARATHI” Kavi Sammelanam and she presided the I session conducted by Adi kavi Nannaya University. On this occasion the Management , ANU, felicitated Dr. Mrs. S.K.L. Suneetha.

My story- A Motivational Session by Successful Innovators

As a part of IIC calender, A session on ‘My story- A Motivational Session by Successful Innovators’ was conducted on 9-12-2021 at 10 am by the Department of Hindi & Telugu, CH. S.D.St.Theresa’s College for Women, Eluru under the aegis of Institution Innovation Council, IIC and sponsored by MHRD, Govt. of India. The Principal of the college and IIC President Dr. Sr. Marietta D’ Mello, the vice-principal of the college and IIC Vice-President Dr. Sr. Showrilu and the Head of the Department of English and IIC coordinator Dr. R. Madhavi and Dr.Ch.V.Mahalakshmi, Head, Department of Hindi & Telugu were the key people behind the successful consummation of the workshop.


Nearly 100 students from the Department of Home Science and Department of Management Studies participated in the session. The resource persons for the Session were Mrs.G.Kavitha Balaraju, Fashion Designer from Sanaa Fashion designers, Eluru and Mr.P.Srinu BABU and Mr. Y.Pavan Kumar, Mr.Vamsi Rayalu ,Managing Partners of F2 Restaurant, Eluru.

Guest Lectute on - Human values& Professional Ethics

Keeping in view of present generation psyche towards life, education and society,The department of Telugu and Hindi, CH. St. Theresa College for Women (A) initiated an awareness seminar on “Human values& Professional Ethics” on 17/2/2022in the auditorium of the college from 2-00 p.m to 4-00p.m
Resource Person Mrs. Ume Salma, Former HOD Telugu & Hindi Department St.Theresa’s, &Master Trainer. During the training, Master Trainer discussed the nuances of life and how to use life's experiences as stepping stones in fulfilling one's dreams. Furthermore, she discussed how one can be an expert in overcoming professional and personal problems by developing a value-based education. The students were instructed that truth, peace-loving nature, responsibility, respect for values, and skills are critical to success, both personally and professionally.

International Mother Language Day Celebrations

International Mother Language Day was celebrated by the Department of Telugu and Hindi, at CH.S.D.St.Theresa’s College for Women(A), Eluru on 21st Feb.,2022 in association with West Godavari District Telugu Writer’s Association.
In this meeting, many students learned about the importance of mother tongue. A participant mentioned that according to studies, 43% of world languages are endangered because they were hand-picked to be used in the digital world. Principal Dr.Sr. Marietta D'Mello stated that even though the world revolves around English because of globalization, it is the duty of the present generation to protect their mother tongue.
On this occasion, competitions were conducted on the topics of "Use of mother tongue for education" and "The need for Telugu to remain a mother tongue and the measures to be taken to conserve it" and prizes were awarded. Convener Ms.Mahalakshmi Head, Department of Telugu and Hindi, stated that there are over 6000 languages around the world that are perishing and disappearing, and such events can improve awareness and use of mother tongues.

Theresa Sahithee Kusumaalu - Book Release

Department of Telugu & Hindi has published a book with poems and Stories in Telugu written by the staff and students of Telugu & Hindi department headed by Dr.Mrs. Ch.V. Mahalakshmi. The book was named as “Theresa Sahithee Kusumaalu”. The main intension is to extracting creativity and improving Telugu Language Skills in Students. It was the first book published by the department in its history with the participation of students. The book was released by Sri M. JagannadhaRao, Vice Chancellor of Adikavi Nannaya University on 5th March2022, during his visit to campus.

Dr.Mrs.S.K.L.Suneetha, participated in the celebrations of International Women’s day celebrations at Aditya Degree College and presented a poem on woman.

Training for young faculty

Mrs. Ume Salma coordinated a training program for junior lecturers on 5th and 6th June 2019. She delivered a lecture on “Ethics and etiquette in teaching profession “.

Student induction program was organized by the department of Indian languages from 24th to 29th June 2019 for for year students.

Cross Cultural Meet

Cross Cultural interaction by overseas Delegates on 29-02-2020 was organized by the department of Indian languages and IMRF

A Delegation of scholars from Thailand, Malaysia and Kenya visited St. Theresa’s College for women, Eluru. Dr. Yannakorn Toprayoon , Rajapark Institute Thailand, Dr. Zaira Zaman Chowdhury from Malay University, Malaysia, Dr. Frapalad Sorovit from Mahachulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya, Dr. vijayavani from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Dr. Kuppu Ram from Turkana University Kenya, Dr.Chanyanan, Dr. Thanyananth from Researchers association of Thailand had visited the college and interacted with the students.

Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam was organised on 29th August 2019 Dr.Kodali Somasundararao has delivered a lecture on the topic – “Contribution of Sri Gurajada Apparao to Telugu literature”

Matrubhasha Dinotasavam was organised on February 21st 2019 by the Telugu club Sarada Manjeeram. Dr. P.Bhagyalakshmi former HOD of Telugu department delivered a lecture on “Importance of mother tongue “

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Under the leadership of Cultural coordinator Mrs. Ume Salma 40 students participated in the zonal and District level youth festival on 6th December 2019 and bagged second prize for group dance” Kalbelia “, folk- group song and won first prize for one act play “ Shakunthala”.

Department of Indian languages organised “Sankranthi Sambaralu” under the leadership of the principal Dr. Sr. Marietta D’ Mello on 12th January 2020 to promote and sustain Telugu culture.

Department of Indian languages organized cultural programs for college day on 30th January 2020. Especially students presented a spectacular Telugu Drama “ Vamana Vruksham ”
